Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance
At Carshalton Boys Sports College we believe that high-quality careers education and guidance is central to raising aspiration and improving outcomes for our students. We know that if our students can't see it, they can't be it — so we are committed to giving every student access to as much career information, guidance and real-world exposure as possible, helping them see the full range of opportunities open to them and reach their potential.
We are committed to providing impartial, high-quality careers advice, and to ensuring every student progresses onto an appropriate course, apprenticeship or employment when they leave CBSC. It matters to us that every leaver has a clear, well-informed plan for their next step.

Independent Careers Advice
The school works with an independent careers adviser to complement the careers education delivered through Personal Development lessons, assemblies and tutor time and events. Our Prospects Advisor is based in H33 and available on Thursday each week, offering one-to-one interviews as well as group sessions for students exploring specific career pathways.
Priority Next Steps interviews are arranged for students in key year groups — Year 11 students are prioritised, with those identified as needing additional support and guidance seen first. Progress is monitored, and further interviews arranged as needed. Written action plans are produced from each interview and shared accordingly. Parents and carers session on request.
Self-referrals are always welcome, from students and parents alike. Requests can be made by email at sbarker@carshaltonboys.org

Our policy statement for provider access provides all the required information to enable providers wishing to visit the school for the purposes of sharing information directly with students. This may include providers of technical education qualifications and apprenticeships, FE & Sixth Form Colleges, HE institutions and employers.
