Team Borneo Update

One week in and we are now at camp Bongkard (bonkers!) in the foothills of mount Kinabalu.  We have survived the jungle phase with nothing but a couple of (hundred) bites and a few people in and out of the toilet rather frequently!

BorneoOne week in and we are now at camp Bongkard (bonkers!) in the foothills of mount Kinabalu.  We have survived the jungle phase with nothing but a couple of (hundred) bites and a few people in and out of the toilet rather frequently!  More importantly some amazing experiences already under the belt. Wildlife highlights so far include seeing a wild orangutan near our camp and a 4 metre crocodile by the river as well as loads of proboscis monkeys.... Great noses!!

We've also learnt loads about the rainforest and done our bit to help with the reforestation programme by clearing vines, collecting seeds and planting over 350 trees back into the forest.  Our final evening was a fantastic evening of culture.....music, dance and martial arts where we dressed in the national costume and had great fun learning a traditional dance.

The team have gelled really well despite the challenging living conditions......we now move from hammocks into our new luxury accommodation of....... tents!  Our next phase will include a water in the community project and permaculture.

Look out for another update next week and follow our 'tweets' on Twitter (#carshaltonboys) or the live feed.

Wheats, Jen and the rest of the team.
