 Course assessment:

Each unit has tasks written into it which are assessed and then graded pass, merit or distinction. Students have the opportunity to hand work in for feedback and targets in order to improve grades.

Units studied include 3 Core Units :-

Working In The Music Industry, Professional Development in the Music Industry and Planning and Creating a Music Product

Plus additional units students can chose from :-

Working as a Music Ensemble, Investigating an Area of Music, Solo Music Performance, Exploring Musical Composition, DJ Music Technology and Performance

 Career possibilities: Following completion of the BTEC First Diploma in Music, successful candidates would be able to enter initial employment, at a junior level, in such areas as music teaching, music publishing or music industry promotions.
Further vocational and academic qualifications
The achievement of the BTEC First Diploma has the equivalence of 4 GCSEs graded A*-C. If you achieve an overall pass grade or better in the BTEC First Diploma in Music, it is possible for you to progress further by enrolling on another Level 2 programme, such as a relevant NVQ, or to move on to a higher level qualification such as a Level 3 BTEC National Certificate specialising in your preferred field

Music is an option for students in the sixth form - A Level information – BTEC L3 and AS Music. Please note that these courses may be taught at a different centre, depending on numbers. Specifics will not be available until GCSE Results day.

 Entry Requirements: Level 2 qualification at Grade B or Merit or above. Some indication of commitment to Music such as theory assessments etc

 Career possibilities:

The GCE Music A Level gives you a strong foundation for higher education and is looked on very favourable by universities. It can lead onto a career composing or performing music, or to work in the music industry for TV, radio or film companies. You could be a music teacher, or even use your musical skills and knowledge in other careers, such as event management or leisure/tourism. Music is the universal language, so your career could take you anywhere.
